Mahesh Shakya aka Karma Biography

Mahesh Shakya is the talented actor who entered Nepali Cinema industry with his experience of working in the prestigious Gurukul theatre. Mahesh was born in Uttar Dhoka, Lazimpat, Kathmandu in the pretty house. These days, the house is popular as Heranya Hotel (www.hotelheranya.com). He was only a year and half old when his father shifted to USA. Most of his childhood days were spent in hostel. People like his confident and smart personality. His hobbies include swimming, playing basketball, listening music, watching movies, watching plays, trekking and cycling.

Â Education and Career

As a child, he changed schools too often. He started his education from Himali Boarding School in Kurseong. Plays were performed regularly in that school and this was where he discovered his passion for acting. But he was too shy to open up and act in front of the mass. So, he had to wait till he was in 9^th grade at St Xaviers School, Jawalakhel for his first audition for the play in which he was given a small role. Next year, he took the lead role as a prime minister. He went to India for his further studies. Returning back, it was time for him to decide which career he wanted to choose. He gave thoughts in joining Army but unfortunately there was Civil War going on in Nepal. His father suggested him to join Gurukul. He went to Gurukul with his father where he watched the play of Baal Bhairab. He fell in love with acting and gave auditions for training in Gurukul and this was how his career began in acting. He was lucky to have a supportive parents.

The training in Gurukul was coming to an end when he found out that Quest Entertainment was looking for actors. So, he sent a CV and photograph to the address that was published in the newspaper. Luckily, he was called in for the audition where he needed to deliver dialogue. They liked their audition and thus he was selected for the role of Karma in Sano Sansar and thus he became popular as Karma.
